Giving thanks

We, Owen, Cheryl, Kile and Will, want to express how grateful we are for all the support from family, friends and The University of Toronto community of students and professors. This year would have been impossible to endure without all the love, sharing and connecting, each of these amazing people provided us.

We also want to share a brief update on the early efforts of The Carey Projects. The year one students at the UofT's Munk School of Global Affairs are bringing their passion and compassion to exploring global issues that Carey had championed. The students represent global views, as they hail from Canada, the US, India, Senegal, Hong Kong, the Netherlands and beyond. Early in the new year, the students will be into a semester of project development, leading to final student projects in the spring that they may submit for support through TCPs.

After the new year, we will expand TCPs into suicide awareness beginning on college campuses. Although we are in the very early stages, our hope is to have an action plan with ambitious goals, ones that would make Carey proud of our efforts.

Carey is close in our hearts every day. To our family and friends, thank you all for taking steps with us. There are no words to express our gratitude for each of you. We hope you are all able to enjoy time with friends and family this holiday weekend as well as the upcoming ones. It’s important to be thankful for the support and love you receive, so please pause a bit more this holiday season to share time with loved ones, as well as help support those in need.
