Parasols, Myanmar, July 2017 | by Carey Davis

Carey was, in the truest sense, awe-inspiring and will remain in our hearts forever.  Carey’s presence was impactful on all the lives she touched. She loved to share ideas and converse, whether it was a debate about global issues or a cup of tea for enlightening conversations with friends, Carey always gave it her all. She empowered others to believe they were loved and could effect change on a macro or micro level.

Carey, with her restless curiosity and thirst for knowledge, had started to create and engage in “Thought Experiments,” helping lead peers to come together to inquire deeply about global problems and challenge conventional thinking for new pathways of action.

The first mission with The Carey Projects is to inspire students to propose solutions through the global affairs and public policy program at The University of Toronto. An award will be available to a University of Toronto undergraduate student team, with the selected entry based on the ideals Carey valued: insight, creativity, and interdisciplinary connections. The selected student team will receive support toward actionable solutions through collaboration with other organizations.  At this time, the fundraising is to build an endowment for the project to fund itself.

The Carey Projects will also address suicide education through the development of more suicide awareness and education, as well as mental health support, on college campuses.

The Carey Projects is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization*, allowing donations to be tax deductible and eligible for company match programs. If your company matches your charitable donations, please contact us for details.
